Currently I am studying for my VMware VCAP6-DCV Deploy exam. The VMware blueprint specifies objectives required for this exam like iSCSI, NFS and VVol. To test/exercise those storage protocols you need a LAB environment with a storage platform. After searching on the internet I found the Dell EMC UnityVSA storage appliance.
The UnityVSA is a virtual machine appliance that allows you to run all three storage protocols. The UnityVSA is quickly deployed and easy to configure. It has a fast/fresh HTML 5 web interface that allows for easy navigation. The UnityVSA is available with a free (Community Edition) license. The only downside I could think of is that the UnityVSA requires 12GB of memory which could be a bit of a problem in a small LAB environment (if the memory is lowered the appliance will not boot up completely).
Keep in mind: the UnityVSA Community Edition license is not supported for a production environment and is limited to 4TB storage.
